I'm Nikolett from Hungary. I'm interested in IT, accessibility, languages, gaming, music, and a bit of everything. I'm a Russian-Hungarian translator. I speak Hungarian on a native level, English and Russian at around C1, am able to understand some German, Greek, Dutch and Polish.

While browsing Facebook, it suggested someone I might know. I have seen the person's name in various places before, but I don't actually know them. Still, I thought I'd check out their profile.
For the first time in my life, I saw someone describe themselves as a "neuro-artist" (taken almost directly from Russian) - meaning they make music using AI and sell it... Or something like that...
Honestly, I don't even know what to say... I want to be ironic and say I'm in high hopes these artists at least listen to the result, not like the developers who don't really like to test their stuff before releasing anything.

There are often periods in a person's life when they feel like nothing has any meaning. Sometimes you have no motivation, no desire, and no mood for anything at all. I think if I hadn't spent all summer learning Greek, I would have ended up in exactly that situation. Because apart from that, there wasn't much variety in my life. Of course, I met up with friends, and I even went to a small concert, but still.
But now I'm ready for anything, because all that studying has finally paid off. Even if it's only for two semesters, thanks to the elective courses at my university, I've been accepted into the Modern Greek program. Just barely, exactly enough for me to attend these courses and meet their requirements. But I got in, and they're happy to have me and are looking forward to having me there, because I successfully passed the assessment.
And that gives me a new push to keep doing everything I'm doing, even when I have absolutely no motivation left. Because sometimes the result comes precisely after it feels like you don't have the strength to keep going anymore.
Now all that's left is to somehow make a Greek voice for RHVoice so I don't have to listen to this horrible eSpeak anymore. 😂

Now that so many TTS engines have been ported to NVDA, does anyone happen to know if there are any speech synthesizers besides Vocalizer that support Greek? If so, where could I get them? I know about eSpeak, and it even needed a bit of tweaking in NVDA because unfortunately it's not perfect. But I'd be curious to know if there are any others.

Random question, but am I the only one who basically uses the same TTS for every language? Like, I'm Hungarian, and I listen to every language written in Latin script with Hungarian eSpeak. English, German, French, Spanish, Polish, all of them. I can't even imagine what it would be like to read English with Eloquence.
Of course, if I'm showing something to people who don't speak Hungarian, I'll switch to a different voice. But for myself, I don't. Obviously, I can't listen to Russian or Greek with the Hungarian voice (although I actually did that with Russian for about a year, until an NVDA addon came out that helped solve the problem), but apart from that, I listen to everything with a Hungarian accent.
I hope I'm not the only one like this 😂

Hello friends! Γεια σας! 😊 I'm from Hungary. I've been learning Greek for three and a half months. I really love the Greek language, culture, and music, and honestly, everything related to Greece. I first wanted to start learning Greek when I was about 13, but then a lot of things held me back, including the people around me telling me that it was useless. 😑 It is not, of course! But now, 11 years later, I finally decided to go for it. I found a wonderful teacher, Vasilis, and we've been learning with great enthusiasm ever since. However, I'd also like to practice what I'm learning. Is there anyone Greek here who would like to practice with me? In return, I can offer my help with Hungarian, since it's my native language. 😊 I don't know if such a thing exists here on Mastodon, but well, it worths a try.

@menelion Because it's a vibe-coded AI slop created by people who couldn't even fix some basic UTF8 problems for days on their AI-coded website. Don't misunderstand me, I have no problems with things made by AI. The problem is when people don't know what they want from AI and they can't even explain it properly. Also the program crashes NVDA right at startup.

This song has been haunting me for a long while now and I had no idea what it is. A Greek friend of mine helped me to identify it though but since I haven't found any decent versions yet, I decided to experiment with Suno. You can listen to the result here.

@tardis Exactly. I agree. I'm trying to teach them, but unfortunately they seem to be very ignorant when it comes to understanding what it is all about and in what exactly these glasses help. Because of course, it's so fancy and cool when such a thing reads everything on a paper or a bigger screen, but it can't magically find you something just because it has a camera. So yeah... Trying to teach, but also strugling with patience 😂
