GNUnet has a "fs" module designed pretty much like Freenet, except it's open source so easier to audit. With some nice Sybil resistance in the R5RS paper. Except it y'know, needs a lot of work. And you said your forum would be centralized, so you could just put it on an I2P "eepsite" and be pretty secure.

I honestly haven't been involved in any of that since like 2018 when java I2P went closed source, so my information might be dated. I still run I2PD at times, though the developers speak Russian so it's hard to participate.

I liked i2p, back when you could compile it from source. i2pd is pretty rad. Gnunet is pretty nice, needs a lot of work though. Scuttlebutt is neat but doesn't scale, and is confusing enough that it was why I started disliking javascript.

Anyway my point is you're not going to have a secure network if it's centralized, and the one centralizing it wants to pull shit. Even hash chains, people just magically find that the hash chain is different than before and what are they going to do?
can you be less of a sarcastic dickwad, please?
Well I did say it was a rant. I don't think I've been either sarcastic or a dickwad in this thread.

I did mention medicine actually, when I referred to the whole "driving people insane" thing. It's a medical condition called AI psychosis, and seems very odd to me that the same bots are being used to "help" people by pretending to be a therapist.

Cyber security, well there's that big patch making sparse, scattered changes to large portions of the Linux source code, to "fix" vulnerabilities, even though it's known that those algorithms will create and exploit bugs to appear to have succeeded.

But yeah I looked into it a bit. Still can't find a better use than making celebrities say silly things.

Both technologies rely on dirty deals and undermining democracy, so that they get approved to steal stuff from people against their will, like land, water, and electricity. Crypto in particular has no way to mitigate speculative bubbles, or wallet theft; all transactions are final and any unethical activity is mathematically impossible to undo. Plus it's focusing on a technological solution, when our actual problem is people socially pressured into depending on money in the first place. And AI has literally driven people insane, with its smoke and mirrors fooling people into thinking it's a person, and done no one any good except bosses trying to steal the wages of call center girls, while again, being a massive resource drain extracted from people with neither their permission, nor any compensation.

So uh... those are a few of the ethical problems.
