Google replaced Git tags for certain source code with obtaining via Google Drive

Google really wants to fuck up AOSP development and are actively hostile these days to the project. If they could easily make Android closed source tomorrow, they would.

I think they will eventually do it. Or they will make a new system and not have it be open source. And leave AOSP to languish. And this is why my next device is going to be a device that supports post-market OS.

I’m going to make sure of that before I buy it, because even if it’s difficult, it will be worth the switch.

I really want to move away from Android to straight Linux phone, but some applications like, Signal Messenger, don’t have a non-Android or iOS version.
