Probably why the quality of posts seems to have gone down (IMO) and the quantity of bot posts has gone way up recently too. It basically turned to shit shortly after the IPO. When I saw an add for reddit on TV I knew it’s in peak enshittify mode.

The problem is that we have allowed them to be benevolent monopolies and now that they control practically the entire market in their respective spaces they are not so benevolent any more. Nobody cared to choose a different search engine because google just worked, nobody bought things from a different website because amazon was fast and had everything. Now google search is just a way to sell me an ad for the thing I’m looking for and Amazon is just a way to sell me an ad for the chinese manufacturer who paid them off to push their results to the top or in some cases it’s their own competing product.

Podcasts are just people bullshitting. It’s a replacement for friends or something. I don’t get it. There’s basically no content.

Just approved one of the largest data centers in the world in the middle of the night.

I can tell when people use AI because it doesn’t sound professional. It’s not direct enough. It doesn’t get to the point and uses a lot of filler.

The better models absolutely will cite real scientific papers that are relevant to your discussion. It doesn’t hallucinate as a matter of course, it can hallucinate some of the time. You can’t trust what it gives you 100%, you have to verify it. But it very often gives useful answers and information.

AI isn’t going away just like dotcom companies didn’t go away. They are in for a steep hair cut though and many companies will not survive.

Not really a ponzi, more like circular financing. Nvidia exposed itself to the AI bust for no reason other than to keep the money flowing to buy their chips for a little longer. They were selling shovels in a gold rush and screwed it up by letting people finance the shovels. They’re not in the finance business, they’re in the chip business.

I intentionally bought a car with the least intrusive ipad and if a company ever comes out with a car that is all analog I will only buy that car. Honestly the ipad wouldn’t even be needed if they just gave me a place to dock my phone.
