US automakers urge Congress to quickly pass law banning Chinese cars

Eventually the US auto market will be eaten alive. Lower cost vehicles cannibalize US manufacturers revenue and their business model requires large revenues, even when profits are low or nill.
The reason to be concerned is Chinese vehicles are equipped with all the sensors necessary for a distributed spy network. I don’t think there’s any way to guarantee data stays in the US. Chevy, Ford, etc will use this for reason to not change, given the government has an interest in keeping out Chinese vehicles.

The domestic automakers all have the same shit. Why would the Chinese go to all the trouble to build and sell cars here to run espionage, when they can just compromise a prebuilt distributed mobile camera and microphone service (aka all modern cars)?
