Betula Logo Devlog

Designed the new Betula logo. It might seem simple at first, but quite a lot of effort went into it. There are many images in the article, including procedurally generated birch trunk patterns, bent paper stripes, and several Krita and Inkscape screenshots.

@blag there's a Windows build, you can get it here https://codeberg.org/bouncepaw/betula/releases/tag/v1.7.0 or compile yourself. But keep in mind nobody tested Betula on Windows. If something goes wrong, let us know

@railmeat it's Latin for birch

@broadway_lamb haha forgot to write. Will fix, thank you!

Happy bookmarking!

That's more like it.

@betula@fosstodon.org

And that's not all. In addition to these binary files, an official container on Docker Hub will be provided.

You can give v1.7.0-rc2 a go already: https://hub.docker.com/r/bouncepaw/betula/tags

The next release will feature pre-built binaries of Betula. If your OS of choice does not have a Betula package, this might be a good alternative.

The project website has moved to a new domain: https://joinbetula.org

The old one will soon redirect to the new one.

@histrio yeah, it's a shame, but some degree of privacy is more important. Perhaps I should make an option 🤔

@histrio wow I totally forgot to add auth check there. I'll fix that next release. I guess you won't be able to build a new map after that...

@histrio they were meant to be inaccessible for the unauthorized though 🤔 Did I miss that somewhere

@histrio the points must be servers. What are the lines? Reposts?

I have updated my #Betula instance, so now it's time to update the map of this network.

@lemor good idea, thank you! Written it down to not forget: https://codeberg.org/bouncepaw/betula/issues/160

@lemor thank you! What's your instance? (if it's public)

@scadu @nlnet no. Mastodon bookmarks are toots in a collection. Betula bookmarks are URLs with titles, descriptions and tags. 1-to-1 conversion is not possible.
