only ads on big sites or ads by big providers are blocked. cookie prompts and other annoyances much less, because there is a great variety of them. data mining and hardware fingerprinting cannot even be thwarted anymore.

sure, if you only care about ads, but not at all about your privacy, it does not mean much to you. personally I would rather see ads (topic based) than give up my privacy, and the complete uBlock Origin is very useful for privacy too.

check the browser compatibility column in the table. it seems maybe Firefox is the only one supporting it even for those without hardware acceleration?

does not work for youtube. for that, you need either a third party youtube app with builtbin blocking, or a patched official app that adds the blocking.

No idea why uBlock specifically is being blocked, but it’s not like you can’t have an ad-blocker anymore.

because google took away the API for network traffic filtering. all that current filtering addons can do is pass a very brief, rarely updated network filter list to the browser, and insert cosmetic tweaks to the pages you visit. they can’t look anymore at all details of any network request and decide what do to. except on Firefox, where it has not been taken away.

first it was the news sites, then the shops and venues, but I didn’t speak up because I haven’t used them anyway.

then the utiliies companies did that, but I didn’t speak up, so far as I can pay the invoices personally it’s not a big deal.

then came the government sites, but meh, I can just go in person! sure it takes away many hours but it’s not worth the hassle to complain!

and by that time nothing else was left either, because all the other sites dropped support in the meantime, while I did not have the time anymore to notice it.

ublock has a lite version on chrome browsers that still works. but normal ublock is much better. ubo lite and other blockers are hiding the ads, but their lists can’t be updated so quickly.

but also, ublock origin is not just an ad blocker. it is a wide range content blocker, also efficient at blocking trackers and limiting fingerprinting. the browser API limitations that make it not work on chrome also means that it can’t do all that anymore, and it is really just a cosmetic ad blocker

well Android Verified Boot also allows changing keys! but like 15 niche phones implement that function out of thousands. out of which it is broken on several such thatit bricks the phone permanently. further, android hardware attestation can make use of AVB, but virtually no apps use it, every app doing such a verification depends on google play integrity, for which you can’t change keys and still pass the ckecks.

google has already implemented on android what microsoft is only just dreaming of to pull off, despite preparing it since much earlier. I don’t know what they are waiting for, everyone knows there would be no negative consequences to them.

we hate technology that will affect us negatively. and capitalism along with the industry of surveillance advertising has made sure that even digitalized observations will affect people negatively, even if some does not know or want to admit. it can be said generally like that, because the general consumer uses devices and services where they are not in control of the data their devices collect.
we don’t want to be recorded, and that’s the end of it.

besides, be sure to use your camera glasses! at home, between the 4 walls, when any other person in the room consented to being possibly recorded by it. yeah its a fun gadget, but what about not stretching further than your blanket reaches.

you don’t have to boot into some special live OS to mount the hidden volume. It can be mounted just like a normal encrypted volume.
