My least favourite reasons for dying, in no particular order. Feel free to add your own.
1. Food Effect decay.
Food increasing your stat pool is not a linear buff. Each effect becomes incrementally weaker as it progresses towards expiry. It’s quite easy in active environments to drop the ball on keeping your stat buffs high enough to be able to use your equipped weapons, and I don’t tend to keep my foods on my hotbar. Cue running about with my inventory open praying.
2. Red mist revenge
You die in through a fumble/terrain quirk/ being in the wrong place wrong time … you know a stupid avoidable death and instead of taking your time to gear up you decide to run back to your corpse to get your gear and extract revenge on the game hoping that the corpse run buff will have your back. This despite the corpse run buff consistently almost never having your back in anything but speed run video content.
3. New Gear Unlock
We’ve all been there. You’d arrived in a new biome and after what seems like an age of being mercilessly bullied by the weakest mobs with your now barely-scraping-by gear, you finally managed to craft the next tier of gear and you’re looking to enjoy your “worm has turned” moment. Every cloud has a silver lining as they say - at least you find out exactly where the gear limitations are.
4. Cheating Mobs
In Dark Forest occasionally grey dwarfs end up inside rocks when spawning and your first and only warning is when they start pelting you with stones. Just one dwarf cursing and throwing stones is not that big a threat.
But then there are those times where it’s night time and you’ve absent-mindedly pulled a troll, a bear, a grey dwarf shaman and its merry gang and with Yakkity Sax ringing in your head you’re busy juggling mead timers to survive and something invisible domes you with a stone …
5. Drowning
Maybe just me, but nothing makes me swear through tightly clenched teeth more than dying because I ran out of stamina within a hair’s breadth of land. Ah the Valheim highs and lows - from slayer of trolls to toddler being taken out by a bowl of soup.
6. Getting jumped while juggling inventory
You come across a pile of item X and because of pure greed are engrossed in looking through your inv to see what you want to keep less missing vital sound cues that maybe you are not alone.

Game in my downtime - I've just set up a Peertube account as I've been posting a lot of Valheim stuff and have plans:

For people looking for mutal follows - I used to follow back as long as there was something on a follow requesters bio, but since the flood of bot/ai accounts trying to pass themselves off as people I'll look over profiles first and linked posts.

regarding rocks and sand bars in water - you can use stairs as a means to stand in water and still be able to hold/use a tool

I like the variety of things there are to do. I inevitably get sucked into restoring ruins, which requires materials, which requires oftimes visiting different biomes ... etc
I had one playthrough where trying to complete Plains and then Ashlands became a horrid grind due to key vegvisir not spawning correctly (or at all) and I had to spend real-time days just wading through the biomes in the hope of chancing on the POIs. Having a task hold me back from advancing the game at the pace I wanted made the gameplay very one dimensional, because while I could do other things there seemed to be little point, as I was a big fish in a small pond if you follow. It was most definitely not as enjoyable as having the time to smell the flowers.
