#valheim can be the game of distractions. exploring, trying to hunt deer. find more bees, refurb a pre-placed hut as a little campsite, find enough deer, fill my inventory & back to base

need more wood for a beehive, end up building a bridge over this little stream by my base instead, then finally plant the hive & turn deer into armour

I like the variety of things there are to do. I inevitably get sucked into restoring ruins, which requires materials, which requires oftimes visiting different biomes ... etc

I had one playthrough where trying to complete Plains and then Ashlands became a horrid grind due to key vegvisir not spawning correctly (or at all) and I had to spend real-time days just wading through the biomes in the hope of chancing on the POIs. Having a task hold me back from advancing the game at the pace I wanted made the gameplay very one dimensional, because while I
could do other things there seemed to be little point, as I was a big fish in a small pond if you follow. It was most definitely not as enjoyable as having the time to smell the flowers.
