I did my best to find any technical data about the flight. Couldn’t find any actual numbers. FWIW it’s not intended to be a standalone method of powering the aircraft for commercial use; they plan on making it a hybrid, which makes far more sense as far as range and payload are concerned. Best guess a 25000 lb aircraft like this will probably cruise around 120-150Kt at a nice, slow, efficient airspeed for a test like this. So maybe a 40-50 mile flight because “air time” probably started as soon as they lifted off.

I said this was exactly what was going to happen years ago. Companies and developers were going to use AI as a barrier between themselves and being sued because they won’t be held responsible for what their creation says.

Keep moving the goalposts so YT can just keep more of the ad money for themselves and the line moving up. More enshittification, nothing new is created but the service gets worse in the name of profitability.

It’s crap. I’ve listened to a little of it. Generic, predictable, and full of issues like “singers” rapping out 30 seconds of high volume lyrics without a single intake of breath. But it fits in with the general overall quality of available music on Spotify. A sea of boring and low-effort junk.

And this is why they get rid of oversight. A Simple inspection of the plans or work to be done would have showed these turbines before they were ever built.

I doubt they’ll be removed.

A lot of our critical infrastructure is connected. From power generation to water to sewer. All have been subject to hacking attempts, some successful.

I have also been saying for quite a long time that these things should not be connected in a way that they can be damaged or disabled by internet.

But y’know, put it all on the web and write controller software for centralized remote operation and monitoring so you can fire people and run the system with less people for more profit.

What an awful “premium” brand. They’re the same ones trying for subscription access to heated seats, remote start, or driver assistance features among others.

Instead they’re “record everyone around you without their consent and post the footage online without their consent to be commented on and shared by others” glasses.

Because when you destroy the publicly available source you become the only available source. Paid, of course.

The final nail in the coffin for humanity, locking knowledge behind digital sources that are inaccessible in event of catastrophe.

TL;DR: it’s not the screens or tech’s fault. It’s the overall pressure to lower standards and people that for whatever reason can’t work with tech.

After seeing my kids go through school I’d say the chief issues with performance are external. Tech and screens are like any tool, they’re only as good as the user.

Parents and society place less importance on education and critical thinking, in fact they often insult it. Parents teach their kids that they’re not responsible for their failings, it’s the teacher’s or the school’s fault. Parent’s don’t have the knowledge to help with the tech, nor will they police the kid’s use of the tech, either because they dgaf or can’t understand it. Teaching standards keep moving the goalposts to help the least common denominator. Teachers also aren’t allowed to teach in a way, there’s always some “do-gooder” latest study that’s supposed to teach kids better, but it’s bullshit management worried more about studies and metrics than just teaching. Teachers spend more time jumping through hoops than teaching.

After a decade of reddit and over a half million karma I quit for multiple reasons. Primarily the cash grab for the API and forcing the reddit app, but also the explicit acknowledgement that the mods and community were absolutely being exploited for unpaid labor and anyone who didn’t bend a knee could get fucked.

Sounds like middle management, too. Wanting to take credit for the work of others.
