Why is it such a crazy idea that the public should own the means of production?

We have lost all sense of self preservation. Almost like we the gipity. Which came first the gipity or the ape? I swear chain smoking monkeys driving cars.

Because more than half of people don’t really understand what the means of production is in the first place.
