Wouldn’t that reduce the dragon fly population as well (who eats mosquito larva)?

They eat other things as well. Supposedly mosquitoes are pretty much the only living thing that’s completely useless, and can be eradicated with no ill effects.

If I recall correctly mosquito larve are incredible water filters and are responsible for maintaining water quality in many types of wetlands.
