World humanoid robot games show runners breaking records, bursting into flames
arstechnica.com/ai/2026/08/world-humanoid-robot-games-show-runners-breaking-records-bursting-into-flames/The future is terrifying. How many years before ice has those things chasing people down in the streets?
Never. There's absolutely no need to use humanoid robots for that, other form factors would be much more efficient.
I wanna say it was a dynamics robot that was awkwardly jogging because of an unbalanced load. Stopped. Got on all 4 and ran off WAY faster (50-60kph) up a rocky hill.they basically said going bipedal was really just to comfort the people around it.
Next step is centaurs, four legs AND hands free to choke people.
Why stop there? Let’s give it some tentacles!

This is your fault, I plead insanity.

I take full responsibility 🤣
The reality is bipeds are poor designs for robots, the better design would be something close to arachnids. But Boston dynamics know they need to sell robots to society, so it’s cute dance videos and dog like robots while they figure out how to strangle you efficiently.
Efficient yes, but humanoid robots are much more likely to be accepted by the general public.
If they're being used to "chase people down" I don't think acceptance by the general public is all that relevant.

If they’re used to chase down people the general public doesn’t like, it might even be applauded.
