Who is old enough to remember after 9-11 the creation of the Department of Homeland Security and the possible usage of such department?

The amount of times I got asked “so you support the terrorists?!?” When I brought up any counter point… yes, me a 16 year old milquetoast white girl from a poor American family with both parents in the military is actually a Taliban supporter, yep, you got me!
