I won’t say that never happened, but I think it’s highly unlikely that there were a lot of dudes taking voice lessons so that they could get a job as a phone sex operator.

They’ll talk to a non-dude about feelings. Their feelings. In fact, they’ll do that instead of seeing a therapist.

Maybe, but I wouldn’t be leaving those comments for real women, either. E-girls existed long before AI did. What do these guys think is going to happen? Are these the dudes who go to strip clubs and think that the dancer is going to go home with them?

Imagine if Lemmy was run by a billion-dollar corporation and injected full of AI, bots, and ads.

The funny thing is that when I go to lemmy.com, the first thing I see is a box with a button that I can click to sign up:

I thought it was more like “We’re a tech company. Other tech companies have become evil. Let’s not do that.”

While it was a nice sentiment, there was no formal plan to not become evil, so of course it happened.

It’s like saving a lossy file over and over again. It degrades each time.

Almost all these books were either headed to the dump or the recycling center. They’re just being digitized on the way.

If the AI companies were simply picking up books that were already going to a landfill, I don’t think that would bother anybody. That isn’t what we’re talking about here, though. These books are coming from booksellers, so it’s fair to guess that most of them are at least a notch or two above what you’d find in a Goodwill bargain bin.
