38 he/him oldskool ROM hacker and fangame developer, you might remember me from such hits as MFGG, Metroid: Fan Mission, SFGHQ, Sonic Retro, SMW Central

@Soblow Oh, good
so yeah if this is the case, then my plan for tomorrow is:
1) Fish out my RTX 2060
2) Swap my A770 out for it
3) Nuke my mangled NetBSD install
4) Fresh install NetBSD
5) Get things going enough that I can try and start doing a migration

@Soblow oh yeah I forgor they made an open source driver and got it in the kernel
I switched to an Intel card before they did that because AMD and Intel had drivers in the kernel. But if the in-kernel driver is good then it should be painless now? I hope
Serious and important question to all #Linux users, in particular #Fedora users (in particular #Fedora44 if this makes any difference)
It looks like I will be needing to swap back to using an Nvidia graphics card (RTX 2060). Is it still a miserable experience with drivers? And if so, how do I make it not so miserable that I get PTSD?

> Eric Dumazet announced that he had just retired, and that all of his pain points have vanished

@zzt also it sounds like if you want to become a contributor now, hope you have lots of money for plane flights and hotel rooms to frequent conferences enough to be noticed
@zzt this whole thing is just a multitude of fuckedness
THIS hurt the most to read:
> Torvalds and others repeatedly said low-quality contributions from new developers should receive low priority, and that the community should stop trying to make contribution easy. Many developers said, repeatedly, that trying to mentor those developers is almost always a waste of time; they do not listen.
