@subnetter 1. they found some diaries on government computers he was keeping that he didn't hand over when told to hand over everything
2. they contradict a lot of things he said and to some extent implicate him in some actual lawbreaking
3. he got dragged in front of a congressional hearing to answer questions
4. biden gave an extremely broad pardon to fauci already so he can't be prosecuted for anything if the pardon holds
5. the supreme court has already said if you're pardoned you don't have fifth amendment protection for that anymore and have to testify
6. fauci is invoking the fifth on every question (over 100 times total)
7. his lawyer is saying it's valid because he could be prosecuted by states
8. the prior mentioned supreme court ruling would have NO meaning if that argument were actually true
9. they found him in contempt of court and probably are gonna refer him to the justice department for charges
10. at the same time there's at least talk of getting the biden pardon legally challenged because the pardon is literally "fauci is pardoned for ANY (unspecified) crime in this multi-year date range". which, maybe it's legal to do that, but it shouldn't be because that's fucking stupid to allow on its face.
11. obviously the hearing is politically motivated but it seems like he did in fact hide shit from FOIA and the stuff he hid does contradict what he's publicly said and even testified under oath.
No one knows yet how this will turn out.
