About what you're saying, at least next to the huge companies that build bigger and bigger models, there is also a current that builds more efficient (and open source) models. The new deepseek v4.1 flash for example is amazing. So at least there is valid hope for actually good local LLMs to be widely available soon, making the independency from big companies possible.
