"The WWW world consists of documents, and links. Indexes are special documents which, rather than being read, may be searched. The result of such a search is another ("virtual") document containing links to the documents found. A simple protocol ("HTTP") is used to allow a browser program to request a keyword search by a remote information server." - 1991

35 years ago today, on 6 August 1991, @timbl shared about a project he called WorldWideWeb.
"The WWW project merges the techniques of information retrieval and hypertext to make an easy but powerful global information system... Try it"

Thank you Tim and thank you to everyone who has helped make the web an open, powerful global information sharing system for all.

I operate a business (Recursive Delete Audio/Visual) where I #repair and refurbish #4track #cassette recorders. I receive machines for repair from across the USA, and would be glad to help with yours if needed! I also sell Type II cassettes and other related accessories.
Follow @recursivedelete to stay in the loop of all my #analog activities!

Great day at #Fedicon yesterday. I met lots of new people from the #ActivityPub community. I've always thought that #XMPP and the #Fediverse are ideologically well-aligned, and that our developer communities should talk to each other more. In that regard, it was a big success.

Excited to announce that @fedipub (formerly known as Federails), the Rails engine for #ActivityPub that powers (amongst other things) @manyfold, has been awarded a grant in the latest round from @NGIZero. I’ll be building community, docs, rounding out features, and ideally making it usable in non-Rails Ruby apps too!

MNT firmware update PSA
PSA update: i missed to include the following update command in my original instructions:
`sudo apt install reform-tools`
You need reform-tools 1.88 or newer for the new mnt-sc driver to be included in initramfs. Otherwise, the display only turns on very late in the boot process, and isn't able to reset properly nor control the brightness on display v2.

@mobilizon first screenshot is a mobilizon event loaded in pixelfed.social (from the client Phanpy) (so it does work sorta if directly loaded by link, but it doesn't support however you have the image set, so if you boosted from Pixelfed no one on Pixelfed would see it since they only load Image posts)
Second screenshot is the same page
Mobizon post as loaded in Mastodon (in the client Phanpy)

@thoralf just came across a weird bug, if I click on the link https://vonunten.org I can't exit the page with the usual swype right, so the only way to get back to Phandroid is force quitting
Update: ohh I didnt notice the x button on top the first time (maybe it didn't show?) But now I see it when I load again. I realize the swipe behaviour is only disabled after you interact with the map once. If you swipe away first it works
