You mean StarTrek.website? 😉

It won’t for long. Upstream chromium removed it and the browsers based on the code are not going to work to continue patching it in.
Yup. They’re only doing this because they’re losing and hoping it makes people use their open weight model instead.
Some things about the Internet back then really sucked. However, pre-SEO and AI bullshit Internet search was significantly superior to what we have now.
They probably are tightening down to try and slow AI scraper bots.
Either way, I’ve mostly given up Reddit for Lemmy anyway. I looked the other day and realized I haven’t even commented on Reddit in 4 months.

That’s not entirely the same thing. It says it catches 89% of HARMFUL actions. That means that 11% of the time it doesn’t.
That’s more like if the corn had a parasite on it that could give you explosive diarrhea 11% of the time. Would you still eat the corn?
Also, in my example, I didn’t say the harmful actions of the pilot resulted in a crash. However, that doesn’t mean it couldn’t. How many of those 11% of the time are the “woops I deleted the production database” stories we hear all the time?

If a pilot of a plane told me that they catch any critical errors they make 89% of the time, I would NOT get on that fucking plane.

Setting minimum wages is different than outright banning tipping.

While I share the sentiment, he doesn’t have control over Federal wage laws. Ensuring that being tipped sufficiently is the norm is about the best option he has to protect tipped wages. I’m not sure if he can somehow ban tipped employment within the city or not. If he can, maybe that’ll be planned in the future.

Canonical has had a lot of missteps in recent years. Some (like snaps) they still actively are shooting themselves in the foot with.
I just timed my Debian box from cold shut down to ready to go. It was 13 seconds.
My Ubuntu Server? It took 86 seconds to boot on the exact same hardware.
Replying to @irmadlad@lemmy.world
A standard install of Ubuntu Server uses more RAM, has longer boot times, and generally just needs more resources to get going. You can strip some of that out, but Debian is that way from the start. Plus, Ubuntu is just Debian with extra shit on top.
Debian is also much longer lived and stable than even Ubuntu LTS releases, so I generally have just found it to be better suited to deployments where I don’t want to fuck with it for a long time, besides monthly patching.

As someone who has both Ubuntu servers and Debian servers…go with Debian. It does everything Ubuntu does, but leaner and better.

Yes because he’s a fucking mind reader who should have thought beforehand that his rights would be tramped in his own country.
Shut the fuck up with your victim blaming bullshit.

The cops were trying to search him under duress, while denied legal representation, without being read his Miranda rights, and without a warrant. Why are you trying to blame the victim of this bullshit?
He’s a US Citizen. He should be able to re-enter his own country without being subjected to this bullshit.
