are you changing settings frequently? if not, settings should be stored on the on board memory and it will continue working on linux

well, that’s true, the reason for that is battery efficiency. the chat client does not need to be awaken constantly to receive notifications, a lightweight app can do that which will wake up the chat client when needed. fewer long term network connections, lower idle memory usage, faster routines handling the bare minimum

If the drivers are being loaded by the monitor and not something like windows update, M$ has virtually no control over it.

the drivers are not loaded by the monitor. they are loaded by windows update. like when your motherboard loads bloatware into your windows install, that too is actually windows update doing it for the request of the motherboard. it would be pretty wild if peripherals could install random software without coordination of the OS

because as a user I may be affected by the rule. if you want people to follow your rules, not just to punish selectively based on them, you let everyone affacted know that you made a rule. because otherwise people won’t know the rule, and won’t follow it. and then you are an asshole if you complain that people didn’t follow rules they didn’t know were made.
