I don’t think that’s the case. It’s a fairly easy thing for them to do (i.e. they just tell other people to do it and it’s not their problem anymore) but will win points with the president and divert attention from whatever fuckery they are up to. Alternatively, there is a non zero chance that he’ll forget about it in a few weeks anyways, so maybe they don’t even have to do anything.

The tech bros don’t give a fuck if the unwashed masses think they are sycophants. Have any of them faced real backlash for it yet? People say mean things about them, sure. But it doesn’t effect their wealth or power.

2026 Midterm Elections
Tuesday, November 3, 2026
25 DAYS

If you are eligible to vote in the upcoming US midterm elections, please actually do so rather than sitting them out. People who have the right to vote, don’t like Trump, but then don’t bother to actually vote are a major reason for Trump being in office right now. Younger members of the electorate in particular generally do not vote. The elderly, on the other hand, very reliably vote.

Turnout in 2024 was, by US standards, high. But…there is still a very substantial chunk of the electorate that does not bother to vote.

The midterms will (probably, unless likely investigations turn up something sufficiently damning to get Republican votes for removal from office) not remove Trump from office prior to the end of his term. But they will trigger investigations and limit his power in various ways, like restricting his ability to fairly-freely replace cabinet members.

For shits and giggles, I asked Lumo only because I get to use it with ProtonVPN. Welcome to my fifth query to it. Full answer follows:

Defining Superintelligence

Superintelligence refers to a hypothetical form of artificial intelligence that vastly exceeds human cognitive abilities across virtually all domains of interest—including scientific creativity, general wisdom, strategic planning, social skills, and problem-solving.

Core Characteristics

Unlike narrow AI systems that excel at specific tasks (like chess or image recognition), superintelligence would possess:

  • General cognitive superiority: Outperforming humans in virtually every intellectual endeavor
  • Recursive self-improvement capacity: The ability to iteratively redesign itself, potentially leading to rapid intelligence explosions
  • Cross-domain adaptation: Applying intelligence flexibly across fields rather than being confined to one specialty

Key Distinctions

Concept Description Narrow AI Excels at specific tasks (current state) Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) Matches human-level intelligence across domains Superintelligence Significantly surpasses human-level intelligence

Important Considerations

The concept is primarily theoretical—no such system exists today. Researchers like Nick Bostrom (author of Superintelligence: Paths, Dangers, Strategies, 2014) have extensively studied the potential implications, both beneficial and existential, of such systems emerging.

Key questions in the field include:

  • How quickly might it develop once AGI is achieved?
  • What mechanisms ensure alignment with human values?
  • How do we manage the transition period safely?

Current Status

As of my knowledge, we remain at the narrow AI stage. Estimates for when superintelligence might emerge vary widely among experts, ranging from decades to centuries—or possibly never, depending on one’s views on AI feasibility.

Is there a particular aspect of superintelligence you’d like to explore further? For instance, the technical pathways to achieving it, safety considerations, or philosophical implications?
