That may be true for you, but it’s far from universally true. I have changed jobs several times (maintaining my industry) without even moving or uprooting anything for my family. I would wager most actually have viable alternative options without moving.

There’s just so many other options for making (plenty of) money, that doesn’t involve actively participating in making the world worse.

Dude, a self hosted WG server creates a tunnel network without relying on central servers. Rayfish is probably just an AI-coded WG server and client combo. It’s “solving” a problem with AI that was already solved without AI.

That’s not rayfish handling that but the cloudflare DDNS you’re using that handles that. So yes, self hosted WG server handles that just as fast.

If you’re talking client-side, it will reconnect as fast as whatever internet connection you’re switching between allows it. For me it’s something like 3-5 seconds from disconnect to reconnect.

Neither has a wireguard tunnel into your home network, you host the WG server on your own computer (or router even, that’s what I do) and just point your clients to that using either static IP if you have it or a DDNS service like the cloudflare you’re using if you have a dynamic IP.

So what, this is just yet another app that makes a VPN connection to your home network, but AI-coded instead? Why not use one of the non-AI made solutions?

If by “pinky promises” you mean contractually binding letters of intent, then yes. This is standard procedure in any manufacturing industry when dealing with orders of massive quantities, because it normally also requires investment from the manufacturer in equipment which they don’t make on non-binding "pinky promises).

It’s not just an issue with incorrect meta data. It will also just flat out refuse to import files if you’re not 100% compliant with what seems like a strict hardcoded folder structure and naming. It will also mess up your manually fetched metadata and any manual adjustments you’ve made if you need to update the library. And don’t even get me started on how it handles chapters in some audiobooks, JFC it can be a shitshow.

I don’t know of a better solution though, so I’m living with it, but it’s a very “hand carried” solution, and were it not for my kids I would rather just have the files directly on my own device with a local player and don’t have the hassle. I wish it would work better like the *arr stack and jellyfin.

I’ve found it really annoying to deal with because it is ridiculously picky about how you structure your audiobooks and name the files. If you don’t get it exactly how it wants it, it fucks up imports.

FWIW this monitoring is only during the written exams (relies on installation of a specific software, that you can just remove again), and it’s the school doing the monitoring not the government.

Edit: they also encourage schools to give pupils better conditions and more time for making written assignment at school where there can be both help and supervision, instead of at home.

All you’re describing is AI making the other things slightly worse than they already were without. They were still there before AI, and still caused massive amounts of stress and despair. Sure AI affects these things too, but they were already bad and AI only made it slightly worse. Which leads me back to my first comment; AI is not nearly as bad for QoL as any of the other things causing stress and despair.

If encountering increased amounts of AI sites has made your life considerably worse, you had a really nice and carefree life with minimal friction before. Good for you, I’m envious.

This is exactly my point. AI slop makes a little worse, but nothing compared to these things.
